As a Barcelona player Leo Messi rarely loses many matches. Leo Messi faced defeats only a handful of times in his club career. And he and his team rarely faced big trashing. But in 2007-08 season Messi and Barcelona received a heavy defeat from Real Madrid at Santiago Bernabeu. Real Madrid beat Barcelona 4-1 even though Barcelona dominated possession as usual.

FC Barcelona rarely had shots on target. They only had 4 shots in target. 2 were from Messi and other 2 from Bojan Kirkic and Thierry Henry both of which were passed by Messi. Henry eventually scored from Messi assist and Barcelona scored just 1 goal against 4 of Real Madrid CF.

Though Barcelona were mediocre as a team Lionel Messi was as usual one of the best players on the pitch. In fact, Leo was the only Barcelona player trying to do something.

Xavi Hernandez was red carded at the end of the match for little reason. He was more sad as Barcelona team had to give ‘Guard of Honors’ before the match when Real Madrid team entered into the pitch. It was visible Xavi did not want to do it. The legend took his revenge next season in style in the very next match at Santiago Bernabeu. Barca put 6 past Real Madrid with Xavi assisting 4 of them.
