In the end, Rafa Benitez’s unveiling at Real Madrid was more interesting than one may have expected.
The highlight of the event came when Benitez was filmed with watery red-eyes, as the emotion of the day clearly caught up with the former Liverpool and Chelsea boss.
Away from Rafa’s eyes, the new manager got a large ovation as he took the podium to speak, and when he did talk Benitez kept things short and sweet.
This is the hard part, having to speak but not really knowing what to say. Madrid is my home. It’s emotional to be back. I hope it goes well, that the team plays quality football and wins trophies.
