1. Gareth Bale may not be best pleased with Zidane coming back as the Welshman spent large parts of last season unsuccessfully trying to make it into the Real Madrid starting XI. Multiple Premier League clubs are interested in bringing him back to England.
2. Mariano Diaz, who was signed last minute from Lyon, has failed to fill the void left by Cristiano Ronaldo. Zidane sold him in 2017, and it’s likely he’ll do the same in the upcoming transfer window. A new marquee signing is expected to take his iconic no. 7 shirt.
3. Mateo Kovacic spent three seasons on the fringes of Zidane’s squad at the Bernabeu before deciding to seek a new challenge. He could join Tottenham as Chelsea currently cannot bid for him after his loan ends due to their transfer ban.
4. Luka Modric has struggled to replicate his World Cup form for Real Madrid this season. He will be 34 years old when next season starts, and Zidane can no longer take the risk of building his midfield around Modric. As per reports, Real Madrid are eyeing a move for Tottenham midfielder Christian Eriksen to replace the legendary Croatian.
5. James Rodriguez will likely take extra measures to ensure that his deal with Bayern Munich is made permanent. His career at Madrid was almost never meant to be and following Zidane’s return, it seems likely that the Colombian won’t make the same mistake twice.
