Real Madrid lost 2-1 to Levante at the Santiago Bernabeu in La Liga leaving them in 7th position and 4 points behind Barcelona. Los Blancos are set to sack manager Julen Lopetegui and bring in former Chelsea manager Antonio Conte after a third straight defeat. The Spaniard took over from Zinedine Zidane in June and has won just five of his 12 games in charge.

Real Madrid were a goal down after just six minutes against Levante as Raphael Varane failed to deal with a long ball from Levante centre back Postigo, Morales capitalised and rounded Courtois to make it 1-0. Six minutes later, Madrid were in trouble again as Varane made his second mistake of the night, handballing the ball in the box. Marti Roger stepped up to penalty spot and tucked the ball pass Courtois. Lopetegui looked to his bench and brought on Bale, Benzema and Ceballos but Real could only claw one goal back as Benzema’s neat cut back was smashed in by Marcelo to make it 2-1. Reports were bad after the game for the Real Madrid coach who is set to be sacked. Santiago Solari is set to replace Lopetegui as an interim manager before Antonio Conte takes over after a successful spell in England with Chelsea.

In the top of the table clash in La Liga, Ernesto Valverde’s Barcelona faced Pablo Machin’s high flying Sevilla. Barca won the game 4-2, but Lionel Messi fractured his arm and has been ruled out of next week’s El Clasico. The Argentine playmaker dominated the opening proceedings of the game assisting the opening Coutinho goal before scoring a magnificent goal. Luis Suarez had won the ball in the centre circle fired out a pass to Messi on the right wing, in classic Messi fashion, he cut in and curled a low shot into the bottom left of the goal to give Barca a 2-0 lead. Messi then fell awkwardly and fractured his right arm which means he will be out for three weeks. Into the second half, Luis Suarez scored from the spot to make it 3-0. Pablo Sarabia’s deflected shot wrong footed the fantastic Ter Stegen in the Barcelona goal to make it 3-1 before Rakitic volleyed in a fourth goal. Luis Muriel made the score respectable with a late goal as the game finished 4-2.

The early kickoff in the Premier League saw Manchester United draw 2-2 with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. Rudiger had give Chelsea an early lead, heading in a Willian corner after losing the marking of Paul Pogba. It took Manchester United until the 55th minute to respond as Martial controlled then volleyed a lose ball into the Chelsea goal. Man Utd then rallied and scored a wonderful counter attack. Juan Mata had popped a 1-2 with Ashley Young receiving the pass from the England international in behind Marcos Alonso. The Spanish playmaker then found Rashford on the edge of the area who in turn picked out Martial and the Frenchman did the rest firing a curling shot into the bottom corner of the goal. United hung on until the 96 minute as a goal line scramble ended with Barkley firing the ball home to end the game 2-2.
